![]() ![]() His illness is central to the plot, but with the exception of a moment or two in this new version, the illness seems barely present at all leaving motivations that drive decisions illogical and not natural. In the original his social awkwardness stems more from his coping with illness. The young Woo-jin character is made so much a clumsy nerd that in some scenes he belongs more in a Three Stooges comedy. In this new one the comedy is anything but subtle and is at times essentially slapstick. This was especially the case in the comparison of the accounts of the leading characters when they encountered each other at school. Actually, although there were a few comic moments in the original they came about naturally and were at times subtle. Although several minutes longer than the original, this version has a simplified story line and really doesn't develop any secondary characters much except a new one, an over-the-top comic uncle. The Japanese version is superior in every regard, acting, direction, cinematography, and the writing. If I had encountered this Korean version first I most likely would have liked it better, but since this was not the case it was impossible to not do a comparison in my mind as I watched it and found it quite wanting. All in all, worth watching.Īs with many other movies that are remade because the original worked so well, this remake fails to meet expectations. You may have to watch the ending twice to get the all-too-quick plot twist, but it's easy enough to hit replay. For the romantics, for those who enjoy a decent story (if a bit odd), for those who appreciate a twist or two during the recounting of events, this is quite a nice experience. It is unfortunate that some are so jaded and demanding in their film watching that they can no longer enjoy a simple bit of story-telling. But it also brings laughter, appreciation, one significantly unexpected "wince" moment, and a few tears. Does it fall short in spots and leave the user scratching one's head at times? Yes. But it's a cut above typical love stories. The story is unique, the characters well-portrayed. To be enjoyed here are the actors, who do very good jobs of portraying their parts. The movie unfolds to reveal the entire story, and is well worth watching. The summary is simple: a woman re-appears a year after her death without memory of her husband and child, who are the first to find her sitting alone near a railroad track. This is a wondrous little film, if a bit confusing. To be in love with you is the greatest happiness of my life, which is also the luckiest thing in my life! This film makes us believe in the beauty of human nature, the beauty of love and the beauty of the world. This allows us to understand: Happiness is to have you in my life. ![]() "The best thing is that you fell in love with me when I secretly loved you." If at the age of 25 Soo-ah learned that she would die when at 32 years old, Soo-ah was still willing to and can't wait to run toward Woo-jin. This kind of unrequited love would make us recall our own youth time. Soo-ah and Woo-jin met each other in high school ear, when they fell in love with each other secretly and intangibly. Looking at the scene of this family in the woods, instantly let me warm my heart. This family began to live a happy life again. The dead mother came back from her youth at 25 in the rainy season. Together with the suspense, passing through time, and memories of the student era, the director cooked a delicious meal with these elements, which makes audiences do not feel messy. The power of this love includes mother-son love, father-son love and husband - wife love. This is a very gentle and pure movie like a fairy tale, which make everyone feel the power of love strongly. ![]()
